This figured cherry cabinet is constructed with dowel joinery (top and bottom to sides), frame and panel construction (back panel) with a coopered panel door.

The door was originally one wide flat piece. It was sawn into five long strips which were then jointed at an angle and glued back together making a rough arc. The inside and outside of the door were shaped into smooth curves using hand planes, one of which I made myself.

This piece was in the 2008 Juried Design and Media Arts Student Exhibition at Santa Fe Community College.
