London Traffic Signal (Jane's Teapot)
Poplar, found objects, milk paint
2008

The idea behind this piece was to take wood and found objects to inspire a sculptural piece.

Since we are a tea-intensive household the Twinings cans seemed a natural thing to use and the colors of the particular cans suggested the theme of a teapot-shaped traffic signal.

The feet are cleats used to wind window pull cords and the handle is surplus heavy-duty copper wire. The piece was finished with two coats of green milk paint over two coats of red milk paint. The green coat was rubbed through in places to simulate wear.
